Do you take a daily vitamin?

Summer is in full effect here in my neck of the woods (have you seen any of my instagram posts?)!  This week begins the first week the kids have off school and my husband and I have off teaching.  We’ve started swimming lessons too which really makes it feel like summer-I cannot complain!  I’ve also gone smoothie and juice crazy!  If you follow me on Facebook you’ll see what I mean.

I’ve been busy, busy getting my book launch ready to go.  (In case you’re in the dark, my latest children’s book is Clover’s Great Escape based on real-life events about a cow who escapes the slaughterhouse to find her way to a serene farm sanctuary.)  I’m still shooting for June 18th as the official release date and am waiting to hear back from farm sanctuaries and health experts to see what they think of it.

Oooooh…and I’m working on another project.  It’s sort of top-secret for now, but I will tell you that it has to do with that cookbook I keep talking about.  You’ll just have to wait and see but it will be launched this summer!  Eeek!  So excited…can’t tell you yet though!

So with all the busy-ness happening here it brings me to my next point.  Do you take a daily vitamin or supplement?  With my kids being vegan, we definitely do, although I’m also a proponent of getting as much vitamins and minerals from your foods as possible.


Well, a company called alternaVites contacted me recently to tell me about their new multivitamins and minerals for both kids and adults.  Hmm.  Vitamins you say?  What’s so new about that?  Well, when I saw their product and read the ingredients I couldn’t say no to trying them!

You’ve heard of pixie sticks, right?  Those sugar-filled straws we all used to love as a kid?  Actually, I think they’re still available…in jumbo sizes now!  Scary.  Anyway, these vitamins are like that.  You just dump them (as my son did below) or sprinkle them into your mouth….or in smoothies, yogurts, etc.

No, I’m not paid to say anything about the company or the products but I will say that my kids liked the flavors (although my lil’ guy, Jett, was too chicken to try ’em).  I like the fact that they do not contain any artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, sweeteners or sugar.  They’re gluten free, vegetarian/vegan, kosher and they don’t stick to your kids teeth like gummie vitamins do.  You can see for yourself here.
