You’ve got to take time to make this Creamy Vegan Shake!  Loaded with nutrient-dense ingredients like hemp and dates, this shake comes together in under 5 minutes!  Dates are not only good for sweetening up a smoothie but are loaded with vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and fiber.  Just be sure to remove the pits first and blend well or you’ll get chunks in your smoothie-not so creamy!  And if you haven’t tried hemp milk yet, you must!  I don’t often tell you to buy strange ingredients but hemp milk is fantastic for smoothies (though it might not go over well on it’s own if you’re not used to the flavor).  Hemp is loaded with protein, Vitamin B-12 which many vegans need more of, and calcium.
My kids and I love making this on hot afternoons to cool us down.  Plus, it satisfies that sweet craving without the guilt (yup, that’s me…with the sweet tooth).  This recipe was also featured on Snore.net, where they were looking for non-dairy alternatives comfort foods.
Creamy Vegan Shake
Serves: 2
 
Ingredients
  • 1 C. pitted dates
  • ½ large ripe frozen banana
  • 2 C. hemp milk, vanilla flavor (or use other non-dairy milk)
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • ¾ tsp. pumpkin spice
  • ¾ C. ice
Instructions
  1. Place all items in a high powered blender and blend on high until smooth. Pour carefully into prepared glass to the top.
